Associate Business Control & Risk Management – Data Management QC

The Data Management Quality Control function is owned and managed by the Chief Data Office (“CDO”). The team provides an independent assurance on the data management and control environment towards meeting applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines for Santander Bank by reviewing, researching, and resolving data discrepancies in systems of records . The goal of the Data Management QC team is to support compliance with regulations and requirements of processes that are meant to ensure completeness, accuracy, validity, and efficiency of data used in information processing, business, and application systems, reviews the operations, systems software, systems development, and security of the organization's computing environment.

The Senior Analyst/Associate joins a team that works to ensure that Santander Bank Data Management Quality Control program is complying to the relevant standards. The primary responsibility of the team is to build and execute a Quality Control and Challenge function on Data Management deliverables within the CDO for Santander Bank.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support implementation of a Data Management Quality Control (QC) program to validate compliance and completion of the Data Management deliverables for projects to relevant standards and ensuring the timely resolution of data management performance accuracy or completeness of the data in the system of record. The Data Management QC program is expected to include (but not limited to):

  • Assessing accurate and effective data management project activities, deliverables, and reporting throughout the data management and data remediation lifecycles.

  • Validates and signs off on data to the quality standards set by the managers and the Data Governance team.

  • Executes the review and assessment of data quality rules, key data elements (KDE), data dictionary, data lineage, profiling data sets, and evaluating data management deliverables and data errors for appropriate resolution.

  • Executes business process analysis and applying root cause analysis on selected data management deliverables to confirm relevant data management policy and standard adherence.

  • Ensuring data quality remediation is appropriately conducted for key data identified by the Data Owners and Data Stewards.

  • Supports timely feedback and communication to the Data Management Governance teams and projects on results and findings.

  • Manage activities that address resolution to data management QC and data remediation QC findings.

  • Review various data management business processes and assess the adequacy of data management and data remediation controls designed to mitigate the data management risks identified.

  • Draft and execute data management quality control and data remediation quality control test procedures to assess operating effectiveness of controls for in scope data management processes.

  • Collect, document, and summarize results for the Data Management business unit, and present findings to line or business manager.

  • Support the Sr. Director Data Governance and Director QC Programs to identify, develop and document corrective action plans, for noted trends or deficiencies.

  • Partner with the business to enhance or implement controls to address deficiencies.

  • Represent the department during internal and external audits/exams as required.

  • Performs manual and automated testing and report test results and failures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree; Finance, Economics, Management Information Systems, Mathematics/Statistics, or equivalent field.

  • 3-5 years; Information Systems, Internal Controls, Auditing, Regulatory, Compliance, Operational or Financial experience with Data Governance.

  • Knowledge of data governance, data modeling, database design development, data mining, and segmentation techniques.

  • Knowledge of tools and techniques of data governance; ability to develop and maintain an organization's data in order to meet business requirements.

  • Knowledge of tools and techniques to ensure data quality in business processes and ability to identify, compare, resolve data quality problems, and determine business impact level for data quality issues.

  • Knowledge of statistical applications within Financial Services to interpret data requests and identify data analytics opportunities.

  • Knowledge and experience using statistical packages for analyzing data sets (Excel, Access, SPSS, Python).

  • Demonstrated data analysis, data presentation, and data development skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel (expert), PowerPoint, Word, and Visio, Tableau, PowerBI.

  • Ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines.

  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business environment.

  • Ability to adjust to new developments/changing circumstances.

  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees, including senior level management.

  • Ability to leverage technology to improve and automate business tasks.

  • Ability to maintain and report on confidential information in an appropriate manner.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work in dynamic environment, which demands the ability to manage multiple, and often competing priorities

Working Conditions:

Frequent Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing and walking. Occasional moving and lifting equipment and furniture is required to support onsite and offsite meeting setup and teardown. Physically capable of lifting up to fifty pounds, able to bend, kneel, climb ladders.
