Santander is looking for a direct marketing and CRM leader that has a deep understanding of all aspects of one-to-one marketingand can manage a team that is purpose built for innovation, accountability, speed-to-market, customer acquisition and data-driven execution.

The bank seeks a seasoned professional with a proven experience in all aspects of direct response marketing — especially acquisition, cross sell, customer engagement and retention initiatives in the financial services and retail banking industries.

The role requires an individual that has mastery of evolving nature of direct marketing, including experience in multi-channel, addressable marketing across online and offline channels.

In addition to a track record of developing successful campaigns, the Head of 1:1 Marketing is responsible for the strategic direction for how to build out the capability to support Santander’s business goals and is responsible for ensuring comprehensive measurement of impact.

As such, they should have detailed understanding of the infrastructure, processes, and organizational requirements needed to build a best-in-class direct marketing capability within a shared services marketing environment.

Responsibilities:

The individual will be responsible for leading direct response programs for customer acquisition and cross sell across consumer and SME markets.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the marketing budget and optimize investment based upon driving program ROI and customer value.

  • Oversee a 6-person team that manages specific one-to-one acquisition and cross-sell campaigns and has are the operation owners of email and branch CRM platforms.

  • Work with product and channel marketing teams to develop campaign strategies across a myriad of channels including direct mail, retail, email, outbound calling and online banking.

  • Leverage existing and new marketing technologies to improve the efficiency and effective of one-to-one marketing efforts.

  • Partner with the internal CRM and Decision Sciences teams to develop an analytical tool-kit to enable effective campaign planning, targeting, list development and measurement of overall program effectiveness.

  • Leverage existing Santander capabilities/resources where applicable and recommend areas for investment/outsourcing.

  • Analyze current activities and ensure fit for purpose against the goals of the organization

  • Manage a common campaign planning process to support ongoing acquisition and portfolio management efforts for current products including DDA, Deposits, Business Banking, Cards and Consumer Lending.

  • Partner with the lines of business and Product and Segment Marketing teams to develop offer strategies that are aligned with the business economics and maximize overall marketing ROI.

  • Participate in enterprise-level activities as needed to ensure that 1:1 marketing needs are represented.

  • Ensure appropriate end-to-end business controls are in place and proactively managed.

Qualifications

  • 10-15 years of experience

  • Previous experience working in the same or related industry.

  • Extensive direct marketing experience in traditional and digital channels.

  • Strong understanding of the marketing mix and where direct marketing fits within this.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with multi-functional teams.

  • Ability to interact skillfully with executive management and a variety of business partners.

  • Fluency with current marketing technologies and deployment

  • Excellent business acumen & industry knowledge

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Excellent inter-personal and collaborative skill set
