Santander Bank has an exciting opportunity available as the Head of Midcorporate Banking and Foreign Direct Investment at the Managing Director level. This position will report up to our Co-President and Head of Commercial Banking. The incumbent will also be a member of the commercial bank executive leadership team.

The MD will be responsible for leading teams organized to deliver the bank’s global value proposition to US headquartered companies with sales in excess of $250 million and American subsidiaries of foreign headquartered corporates irrespective of size. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record ofdesigning business plans and leading bank relationships while advising and delivering capital structure solutions. This is a great role for someone with prior success in coaching and driving the sales force and developing disciplined sales management routines.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with critical channels and capabilities within the franchise to prudently expand client relationships and ensure relationships are multifaceted

  • Develop a go-to-market strategy that leverages relationships across the Santander global franchise in order to increase the velocity of intra-bank activity and promote a common and consistent level of dealing to the delight of customers and prospects

  • Approve credit and advocate the usage of the balance sheet based on the criteria established for the group

  • Act as principal contact with all internal and external review agencies and ensure compliance with all laws, policies and procedures

  • Assess and qualify opportunities, articulate the bank’s value proposition, mobilize the institution to deliver client solutions and drive P&L results

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required;

  • Strong acumen in corporate finance and capital markets;

  • 10+ years of experience handling public, private and sponsor-owned companies with sales size $250MM and greater;

  • Knowledgeable in all commercial bank products and services and how to apply them across a range of clients and prospects;

  • Proven consultative sales approach and a track record in leading teams and opening new markets;

  • Experienced in hiring and retaining top talent in a managerial or leadership capacity;

  • Skilled in building business plans, performing market analysis and executing on plans with proven success;

  • Experienced credit professional with history of objective, balanced and dispassionate decision making;

  • FINRA 24, 79, 63 preferred;
