This position provides leadership, supervision, direction and guidance to a team or teams within a functional line of business, geographic region and/or a specialty market. These teams may include, but are not limited to, Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers, Financial Analysts and Business Development Officers. The incumbent has overall responsibility for profitability, credit and loan authority, risk management, business development, budgetary planning and commercial compliance issues. This position develops strategic initiatives focused on increasing market share, improving service delivery and meeting CMG expense, profitability and revenue targets. The Market Manager is assigned the largest, most sophisticated and complex customers and portfolios in terms asset size, geographic territory, variety of business lines managed.
Implement strategic initiatives endorsed by Santander Executive Management relative to the areas of customer focus, portfolio management and overall profitability performance.
Plays a leadership role in civic and community functions to further enhance Santanders image and develop expanded business.
Provide sales coaching and ongoing mentoring for team members in the areas of business, human and commitment skills.
Review and recommend commercial loan requests that exceed subordinate lending authorities.
Develop and implement a strategic plan for the overall geographic/business line efforts.
Prepare annual budget estimates for loan growth and rate forecasts.
Leads and/or participates in strategic and cross functional projects and initiatives with company-wide impact.
Provide strategic direction to assigned group of team members to ensure that business goals and objectives related to profitability, loan volume, credit quality, business development, cross selling and relationship management are met.
Bachelors degree or equivalent job related work experience and a minimum of 12 years broad-based commercial banking experience in sales within the financial services industry to include at least 5 years in a management capacity Broad exposure across financial services products, commercial segments and delivery channels
Demonstrated ability to work independently and leverage professional relationships within and outside the bank
Demonstrated superior sales, presentation, interpersonal, negotiation and written and verbal communication skills
Full utilization of CMG sales automation tools and related technologies
Solid knowledge of and experience with the investment banking community and its practices as it applies to middle market and commercial banking
Superior knowledge of commercial banking products and services (both credit and non-credit), Santander Banks Credit Policy and Procedures, competitor product lines and commercial compliance regulations
Superior knowledge of financial analysis, risk evaluation, loan documentation and commercial loan collection activities
